Yue Yupeng and Yoshiki Ogawa made two presentations, one being their co-authored paper and the other being Ogawa’s single-authored paper, at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea held at Université Bordeau Montaigne on 26-29 August, 2025.

Yoshiki Ogawa and Yue Yupeng made a presentation of their co-authored paper at the 11^th Workshop on Nominalization (JENom #11) held at University of Graz, Austria on July 3-4, 2025.

Ogawa, Yoshiki’s edited book, Theories of Morphological Case and Topic/Focus: Synchronic Variation and Diachronic Change in Japanese and Beyond, was published from Palgrave Macmillan. This book incorporates 14 articles, four of which are authored by Yoshiki Ogawa.

The 5^th term of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was established with 46 people as its members.

The 13^th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held for two days.

Yi Linya submitted her thesis titled “Grammaticalization of Verbs in Mandarin Chinese: An Analysis in terms of Cartography and Upward Reanalysis” to the Graduate School of Information Sciences and got her Ph.D. degree.

Yue Yupeng and Yoshiki Ogawa made an oral presentation of a co-authored paper at the 57^th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea held at University of Helsinki, Finland.

Yue Yupeng Yoshiki Ogawa made a poster presentation of their co-authored paper at the 168th National Conference of the Linguistic Society of Japan held at the ISU, Tokyo. 

Yi Linya and Yoshiki Ogawa (2024) “Comparison of the Verb of Motion GO in English and Chinese in Terms of Grammaticalization” was published from Interdisciplinary Information Sciences 30(1).

Yue Yupeng Yoshiki Ogawa made a poster presentation of their co-authored paper at the 167th National Conference of the Linguistic Society of Japan held at Doshisha University.

Ogawa, Yoshiki (2023) “Grammaticalization from Minimizer to Focus Marker as Upward Reanalysis along the Nominal Spine” was published from Studia Linguistica, Volume 77.

The 10th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held for two days.

Yoshiki Ogawa and Toshihide Nakayama’s co-edited book『コーパスからわかる言語変化・変異と言語理論３』[Language Changes and Language Variations Uncovered from Corpora and Linguistic Theories 3] was published from kaitakusha, Japan. This book compiled five articles (single-authored or cu-authored) by Yoshiki Ogawa, as well as 23 articles by other authors.

Ogawa, Yoshiki (2022) “The V-Neg-V Complex Predicates, Two Types of Negation, and Grammaticalization in Japanese” was published from Lingua, Volume 280.

The 9th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held.

Yoshiki Ogawa made a presentation of a paper co-authored with Keiyu Niikuni and Yuichi Wada at the 55th Annual Meeting of the Societas Linguistica Europaea held at University of Bucharest and online.

The 4^th term of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was established with 46 people as its members.

The 8^th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held.

The 7^th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held for two days.

Tohoku University Research Program (Frontier Research Duo (FRiD)), titled “Understanding the brain mechanism of language computation from analyzing the communication signals of birds,” started as a five-year project. The principal researcher of this project is Kentaro Abe at the Graduate School of Life Sciences, Tohoku University, and Yoshiki Ogawa and Kentaro Inui have joined the project as collaborative researchers.

ILCAA Joint Research Project of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, titled

“Exploration into the Mechanism of Language Change and Variation through the Dialogue between Theoretical Linguistics, Linguistic Typology, and Quantitative Linguistics,” (jrp000271) started as a three-year project.

The 6^th workshop of the Language Change and Language Variation Research Unit was held for two days.

Yoshiki Ogawa, Yasuaki Ishizaki and Hirofumi Aoki published a co-authored book titled Bunpooka, Goika, Koubunka [Grammaticalization, Lexicalization and Constructionalization] from Kaitakusha, Japan.

Yoshiki Ogawa’s edited book『コーパスからわかる言語変化・変異と言語理論2』[Language Changes and Language Variations Uncovered from Corpora and Linguistic Theories 2] was published from kaitakusha, Japan. This book compiled three articles (single-authored or cu-authored) by Yoshiki Ogawa.

Yoshiki Ogawa and Reijiro Shibasaki (supervised translation) 『言語はどのように変化するのか』 [How Languages Change] (the translation of Joan Bybee’s book titled Language Change, Cambridge University Press）was published from Kaitakusha, Japan.

Yoshiki Ogawa made a presentation of an article co-authored with Keiyu Niikuni and Yuichi Wada at the 8^th Workshop on Nominalization (JENom #8), held at University of Stuttgart (Germany) on 21-22, June, 2019. Part of this work has been published from a journal Zeitschrift für Wortbildung / Journal of Word Formation, Volume 4, Number .
